Cassette tape Illustration mini project

Stemming from my growing fascination with analog media I decided to design a cassette tape case as a promotional item, based on a poster illustration I designed previous. I'd like to expand on analog and outdated media design some more, perhaps making this into a series of some sort.

Mini project "Re-covered" Street Fighter Alpha

The first piece of a new mini project entitled "Re-covered", which focuses on creating new covers for classic games on slightly obscure systems. the first system that the project will focus on is the Sega Saturn. I chose Street Fighter Alpha for the first cover to represent the Saturns wealth of 2D fighting games, in which the Saturn excelled. I took inspiration from the works of Capcom artist Shinkiro, whose work on the Capcom vs SNK series and other crossover games made their covers and posters standout amongst the crowd. I wanted to use Shinkiro's high contrast use of hot and cold colour palettes.

The next game thats in the "Re-covered" series is the fighting game that the Sega Saturn is best known for: Virtua Fighter 2.

Farang: Red and Yellow

Farang: Red and Yellow is a 24 page comic exploration into the 2014 Thai coup d'etat through the lens of a western eye. I created this comic with the intention that Thailand's Coup crisis will enter the public consciousness and spark a conversation.

Anglepoise Living Lamp: one of the winning books

Living Lamp was a professional brief set by British lighting maker Anglepoise® for final year BA Illustration students at the University of Portsmouth. Over 40 students were tasked with bringing an Anglepoise® lamp to life by exploring the narratives around their anthropomorphic qualities through a single concertina sketch book. Each concept was kept under wraps until the end of the campaign, when all the sketchbooks were presented simultaneously. 9 winners were selected by Anglepoise® Brand

My Narrative was selected as one of the 9 winners, It was an exciting experience working in secret from my piers and the Anglepoise company, which made the big reveal event both tense and exciting.

Preview Spreads of 'Farang: Red and Yellow'

production on Farang is going well, interpreting heavier themes through an aesthetic thats relatively new to me has been equally exciting and unnerving. Farang features a look thats intended to strike a middle ground between the underground antiestablishment comics of the 1960's and 70's and a more modern independent look thats more widely seen now.

Breaking Bad: What's the matter, Chief?

Work based on my favourite scene from Breaking Bad season one, where jocks are making fun of Walter Jr. and, being on the brink, Walter White exits the scene from the back of the building and renters through the front and kicks a jock in the back of the knees and says "What's the matter, Chief? having trouble walking." I found the scene extremely powerful and, for me, it demonstrates what a person can do when pushed to breaking point.

This composition was made for a competition with Little White Lies magazine

Announcement: Solo Exhibition at The Kings Theatre 27th April - 9th May

I'll be closing out the Spring Exhibition season at The Kings Theatre in Albert road, Portsmouth with my first solo exhibition, centring around pop culture, animation, film and video games. wether they'll be a preview night for the exhibition is still undecided, it'll depend on peoples schedules around that date.

A close up on the exhibition description in the brochure, the work that'll be on display will be a mix of previously shown work and new pieces made specifically for the show. really excited to be working with the Kings on this exhibition, and honestly I get a little buzz from seeing my ninja turtle in print like this.
